Telma AZ 80mg tablet is a combination medicine containing the two active ingredients called Telmisartan and Azelnidipine, which treat stage- 2 hypertension (high blood pressure). Telmisartan is an antihypertensive agent which belongs to the medication class known as an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. Angiotensin II is a naturally occurring substance that narrows your blood vessels, increasing blood pressure. This medicine treats high blood pressure. It functions by inhibiting the effects of angiotensin II, causing the blood vessels to relax and decreasing blood pressure. Azelnidipine, a calcium channel blocker, also relaxes blood vessels, reducing pressure and improving blood flow. Do not consume Telma AZ 80mg tablet if you are allergic to Telmisartan, Azelnidipine, and its other ingredients. Also, do not consume if you have severe liver (biliary obstruction) conditions or combined with aliskiren-containing products in patients with diabetes mellitus or renal impairment.  Before starting the treatment, inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, or heart conditions. Azelnidipine is contraindicated in women who may be pregnant or already pregnant, as well as in combination with certain medications like azole Anti-Fungals and HIV protease inhibitors. Avoid abrupt discontinuation of calcium antagonists. Your physician will monitor for excessive blood pressure decrease, hepatic function disorders, and jaundice and adjust the dose if needed. Also, your doctor will discontinue Telma AZ 80mg tablet if abnormalities occur. Inform your doctor if you have a myocardial infarction, arrhythmia, and heart failure before starting the treatment. Avoid consuming grapefruit juice while taking the medication.
