Shingrix vaccine 0.5ml contains live attenuated Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) as an active component. Vaccine Shingrix belongs to a group of live attenuated vaccines. It is used to prevent shingles (herpes zoster) and zoster-related post-herpetic neuralgia (the long-lasting nerve pain that follows shingles). Individuals 50 years old or above can get their vaccination against zoster. Herpes zoster, or shingles, is caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), which causes chickenpox in individuals when it affects them for the first time (primary infection). Post-herpetic neuralgia is a condition in which an individual experiences pain for more than a month or years after being affected by shingles. The Shingrix Injection is not intended to treat or prevent primary varicella infection (chicken pox).
