It is prescribed when immunoglobulins, corticosteroids, or splenectomy (surgical spleen removal) have not successfully increased platelet counts. This drug is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to other medicines that are produced by DNA technology using the micro-organism Escherichia coli (E. coli).
