Orencia Powder for Infusion contains Abatacept, an immunomodulatory biologic medicine used to treat autoimmune inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). These conditions occur when the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy joints and tissues, leading to pain, swelling, stiffness, and long-term joint damage. Abatacept is a selective T-cell co-stimulation modulator, meaning it reduces abnormal immune activation that drives chronic inflammation. It is typically prescribed when conventional treatments like methotrexate or other disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) have not been effective. This medicine is administered through intravenous infusion under medical supervision. Orencia should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to Abatacept or any of its excipients.
