D-Pressin Spray

D-Pressin Spray contains an active component as Desmopressin. It also known as DDAVP (1-desamino-8-D-arginine vasopressin), is a synthetic form of the hormone vasopressin. Vasopressin is naturally produced in the body by the hypothalamus and released from the pituitary gland. It plays a crucial role in regulating water balance, blood pressure, and urine production.  D-Pressin Spray is the treatment of choice for central diabetes insipidus, a condition characterized by the inability of the body to properly regulate water balance. It helps reduce excessive thirst and urination by mimicking the action of vasopressin. It is sometimes used in the treatment of mild to moderate forms of VWD, a bleeding disorder caused by a deficiency or dysfunction of the von Willebrand factor. It stimulates the release of von Willebrand factor, which aids in clotting. D-Pressin Spray can cause water retention, which may lead to a condition called hyponatremia (low sodium levels in the blood). It is important to monitor sodium levels during treatment, especially in individuals who are at an increased risk of hyponatremia, such as those with certain medical conditions or those taking medications that can affect sodium levels. This medication is primarily eliminated through the kidneys. Individuals with impaired kidney function may be at an increased risk of D-Pressin Spray accumulation and should be closely monitored while using the medication. If an individual has a known allergy or hypersensitivity to D-Pressin Spray or its components, its use should be avoided.
