Uniotide 50mcg Injection is a prescription medicine that contains octreotide, a man-made version of a natural hormone called somatostatin. It helps control the release of certain hormones in the body and is mainly used to treat conditions such as acromegaly (a disorder in which the body produces too much growth hormone), symptoms caused by rare digestive system tumours (such as carcinoid tumours and VIPomas), and complications after pancreas surgery. It’s also used to manage bleeding from veins in the food pipe in people with chronic liver disease and to treat pituitary tumours that produce too much thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), especially when other treatments haven’t worked. This injection is usually given under the skin, into a muscle, or into a vein, depending on your condition, and should be used only under a doctor's guidance.
