Erlotad tablet contains an active substance erlotinib. It is an anticancer medicine that belongs to the class tyrosine kinase receptor inhibitor. It is used in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), an advanced and spreading type of lung cancer. When used in combination with gemcitabine, a chemotherapeutic medicine, it is also used to treat pancreatic cancer. It works by blocking the protein that increases the growth of the cancer, known as epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFR). If a test has shown that your cancer has certain changes in a gene called EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor), the cancer can respond to the treatment with this medicine. Inform your doctor before starting treatment if you are using any stomach acid-lowering medicine, as it may prevent erlotad from working. Inform the physician if the patient has any kidney or lung-related problems. Make sure to inform your physician of all the medicines you are taking before you start the treatment with this medication. Report any symptoms of difficulty breathing together with a cough or fever, chest pain, fever, weakness, or seizures.
