Cilamin 250mg capsule contains the active substance penicillamine. Primarily it is a chelating agent, which means it can bind to certain metals in your body, including copper and lead, to help remove them from your body. It is used to treat Wilson’s disease and lead poisoning. It also belongs to a group of medicines called DMARDS (disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs). It helps to relieve the pain and stiffness caused by rheumatoid arthritis in adults and children. It also treats still’s diseases in children. Cilamin 250mg capsule also treats a kidney problem called cystinuria in adults and children. It is also indicated to treat chronic active hepatitis (a type of liver disease) in adults. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to penicillamine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Do not take this medicine if you have ever had a reduction in WBC after taking this medicine. Do not take this medicine if you have ever had aplastic anemia (severe reduction in blood cells), lupus erythematosus (an allergic condition that causes skin rashes), or kidney problems. Do not consume this medicine if you have ever had thrombocytopenia (a blood disorder that causes bleeding into your skin, bruising, and more bleeding than usual after an injury). Inform your physician if you have protein in your urine, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have blood in your urine, if you have an active infection, and if you are an elderly patient. Your doctor will recommend you take complete blood and urine tests before initiating the treatment.
