Apiban 5mg Tablet

Apiban 5mg tablet is a direct oral anticoagulant (DOACs) drug belonging to the category of medicines known as Factor Xa Inhibitors, containing the active ingredient Apixaban. It is used for the prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in the veins of your legs), which may lead to pulmonary embolism (clots occurring in the blood vessels of your lungs), in patients who have undergone hip or knee replacement surgery. This drug also reduces the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation(AF). Some formulations of this drug may contain lactose as an inactive ingredient in which the body is unable to digest lactose, a sugar found in milk and dairy products. It can cause symptoms such as bloating, and abdominal pain. If you have lactose intolerance, inform your doctor before starting this therapy. This drug is contraindicated in patients with hepatic disease associated with coagulopathy and clinically relevant bleeding risk, and it is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment. It is essential to inform your doctor if you have a history of any bleeding disorders, liver or kidney disease, or if you're taking any other medications, including over-the-counter drugs, supplements, or herbal remedies. This medicine can interact with other anticoagulant medications and it increases the risk of spinal or epidural hematoma (a blood clot that forms in the spinal canal), particularly if patients undergo spinal procedures or receive spinal anesthesia. Therefore, patients taking this drug should inform their doctor before undergoing any medical procedures, including dental work or surgery, so that appropriate precautions can be taken. Clinicians should also monitor patients frequently for signs and symptoms of neurological impairment, such as numbness or tingling in the arms or legs, weakness, or loss of bowel or bladder control. If these symptoms occur, urgent treatment is necessary to prevent further neurological damage. Consult your doctor before using this medication if you are pregnant or plan to have a baby.
